Better personalized education

We are always thinking about how to educate better. More learning, more fun, deeper engagement, more sustained success. We are staking out three claims to aggressively pursue.

  1. Engaging Education: Good learning takes time. Kids have many choices and we choose to entertain and educate. This means math fluency games, using texts kids love, and creating learning pathways that expose them to learning journeys that helps them experience college and career experiences. STEM events, career exploration, long-term science experiments, and cutting edge technologies - these inspire students to work harder and longer.
  2. Learning about Learning: Our system teaches and learns. We created a system that helps us explore what concepts, skills, attitudes, and goals inform and improve learning at each grade level. Experienced teachers know how students at different grades need different supports and we intend to provide research, models and
  3. The best items: We work intently with students everyday to ensure our phrasing and techniques elicit accurate assessment. By continuously fieldtesting concepts, we ensure that clients receive world-class items that are tightly written and prepared for today's technology. These items facilitate assessments that let learners feel self-efficacy and able to demonstrate their full skills.

Engaging Education

Using Texts Kids Love

Reading teaching at scale too often involves short, meaningless passages, we wholeheartedly reject this and encourage students to read the most popular novels that they know and love. BUT, we ask the same types of text-dependent questions and ask for rigorous interrogation of the text through projects requiring text structure, interpretation, and analysis. We have completed over 70 books and plays using these guiding principals and invite you to give them a try.

Designing Responsive Math Games

Students are inspired to achieve mastery everyday through competition and we design learning experiences to help them master critical topics that take the investment of brainpower and time. We are always designing new games, new bells and whistles (quite literally!), and new feedback that inspires and educates. Try one today!

Integrating Content

By dividing content into discrete classes, students begin to see themselves as a "math person" or a "reading person" or even an "uninterested learner." We reject these labels and try to create learning adventures that show students how they will integrate these skills as adults. This combination may include scientific investigations with a related textset and mathematical analyses emphasizing their grade level. Or, it could include introducing the 3D printer with an integrated reading and mathematical design project that allows students to model their imagination and show off their skills and background.

Using Materials that Inspire

We have found that simply bringing in the tools adults use truly inspires kids and allows them to better imagine their future selves. With younger learners, we have used 60 pound bags of concrete, surveyors' measuring tools, pulleys, and microscopes. With more advanced learners, we use laser thermometers, javascript coding, and 3D printers. We are beginning to better document these activities and their results, and look forward to sharing this more completely soon.

Writing the Best Items Possibile

Math: From Fluency to Modeling

edMe writes the best items to accurately measure fast and accurate procedural skills, deep conceptual understanding, and a variety of applications. We create items within a variety of frameworks, delivery methods, and technology-enchanced environments.

Reading: Vocabulary, EBSRs, & So Much More

Our items assess key details, syntheses, and inferences. In addition, we design a variety of projects and writing assignments with tailored rubrics to ensure students receive formative feedback aligned to learning objectives.

Science: Three-Dimensional Formative Assessments

Our science items match the rigors of the Next-Generation Science Standards as well as state standards across the country. We are able to create sets of items based on texts and investigations. We also create materials for classroom use, formative assessment, and summative evalutations.

Process-Based Writing Supports

We create writing prompts and rubrics within our reading and science offerings as well as standalone experiences. These prompts, educator-supporting materials, and parent-friendly guides ensure that writing can be a part of everyday education within the framework of traditional and nontraditional school environments.
